Types of Job Opportunities

Protective Services Positions


Intake: Work at Protective Services’ Statewide Central Intake in Albuquerque taking reports of child abuse and neglect and determining priority level of response. Flexible Hours—daytime and graveyard shifts.

Placement:
Work primarily with interested and current foster and adoptive parents, conducting home studies, matching children with families, conducting training and providing supports for foster and adoptive parents.

Investigations:
Receive accepted reports of child abuse and neglect, conduct investigations and assess the safety and risk of child. Work with law enforcement in emergency situations and respond to crises in a fast pace environment. Prepare evidence and file for custody in Children’s Court.

Permanency Planning: Work primarily with parents and children in foster care. Develop court-mandated service plans for children and parents, monitor visitation and evaluate progress towards goals. Present facts at court hearings.

In-Home Services:
Work with families who accept voluntary services with CYFD. Coordinate service plans, assessments and home visits for an intensive period of time.

Family Centered Meeting (FCM) Facilitators: Conduct and facilitate meetings in which crucial decisions need to be made in a child welfare case between parents, staff, extended family, foster parents, attorneys, providers, and other relevant parties.
